Spiritual Warfare

Dennis McCallum
Ephesians 6:10-18

There are 6 elements the Bible mentions Christians have to use in spiritual warfare: 1) belt of Truth, 2) breastplate of God's Righteousness, 3) feet fitted with the Gospel of Peace, 4) shield of Faith, 5) helmet of Salvation, and 6) the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. All of these things should be coupled with persistence in prayer. We look in depth at each of these weapons and how we can practically appropriate them in the Christian life.

Spiritual Warfare

Dennis McCallum
Ephesians 6:10-12

We have plenty of both philosophical and Biblical evidence for spiritual warfare. In any type warfare, we must decide if we will respond with a mentality of peace-time or war-time. In war time, it is imperative that you: 1) know your enemy, 2) are equipped to fight, and 3) are on your guard.

Living in the Last Days

Jim Leffel
2 Timothy 3:10-11

In the last days, selfish love will increase. Paul describes the kind of depravity that will occur; man will pursue love of self, money, and pleasure. This will result in corruption of self, destruction of relationships, and spiritual depravity. The alternative is a fulfilled life pursuing others and relationships.

Christian Euphoria

Dennis McCallum
Ephesians 5:18-20

While the Bible prohibits drunkenness, God does not discourage pleasure. Euphoria and ecstasy do have a place in the Christian life, but it is not the most important thing to spiritual people. Real ecstasy comes from the spiritual side of life; through thanksgiving, relationships, and seeing God changing people's lives.

The Trap of Temptation

Ryan Lowery
Psalms 32:3-6

God created us with needs that only He can meet. Yet all too often, we find ourselves tempted to meet those needs through other things. How can we stand up under these temptations? By turning back to God as our source of wisdom and fulfillment in life.

Wisdom and the Cosmic Order

Ryan Lowery
1 Kings 11:1-6

The Proverbs offer wisdom from God on how we should approach life. Why should we heed this wisdom? As the one who created everything, God offers us reliable insight into how to approach our lives in this universe. Learning to seek out God's wisdom requires humility, but it will yield the best possible life!

Finishing Well

Don Dixon
Randy Jones
1 Kings 11:1-6

A God-centered life presents optimism and meaning, and stands opposed to the pointless tendency of a self-centered life. By drawing near to God, Christians can be effective servants for Him, even through suffering and life changes. With Christ, believers can have hope for their futures and eternity.

Romans 12 - Renewal or Conformity?

Dennis McCallum
Romans 12:1-5

As believers in Christ, we have two choices: we can conform to the values of this world, or we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We cannot straddle the line between these two choices, but are called to make a conscious decision and effort to be transformed by God. That decision allows us to make an eternal impact instead of investing in the fleeting things of this world. It also causes us to grow deep relationships alongside others in the body of Christ who are being transformed by God with us. When Christians choose to be transformed in this way, they become more persuasive, more zealous, and more mature in their spiritual lives.

The Normal Christian Life

Gary DeLashmutt
John 14-16

Jesus' farewell discourse describes the normal Christian life as a life of supernatural provisions in the midst of extraordinary difficulties. Three difficulties are presented: 1) Jesus will not be physically present; 2) we are living in a hostile world; and 3) we are given a humanly impossible mission. Four provisions are given: 1) hope in the eternal kingdom; 2) access to God through prayer; 3) help through the Holy Spirit; and 4) the authority of Jesus over the world system.
